B. APPROVAL OF CONSENT CALENDAR/INFORMATION ITEM

Approval of Consent Calendar:

A. Certificated Personnel Actions:
It is recommended the Board approve the certificated personnel actions as presented.

B. Classified Personnel Actions:
It is recommended the Board approve the classified personnel actions as presented.

C. Approval of Warrants:
It is recommended the Board approve the December 2009 warrants as presented.

D. Authorization to Enter into Master Agreements for Commissioning Agent Services with Enovity and Test Marc:
The Board discussed authorizing master agreements with Enovity and Test Marc for third party commissioning agent services who provide third-party verification that the projects are meeting standards at their January 12, 2010, regular meeting.

E. Resolutions:
Resolution 2009-10.19 - Read Across America Day: This resolution is passed on an annual basis to celebrate Dr. SeussŐs birthday, March 2.


Information Item:

A. 2008-09 Annual Independent Audit Report:
School districts are required to complete an annual audit report by December 15. A representative from Vavrinek, Trine, Day, & Co. will present the completed report.

B. Mid-year Progress Report on Focused Goals:
The Superintendent will present his mid-year update on focused goals from the Strategic Plan for the 2009-10 school year.




D. DISCUSSION ITEM

C. Authorization to Solicit Bids for the Palo Alto High School Multi-use Fields:
The Board will discuss authorizing staff to solicit bids from a pool of prequalified contractors for the Palo Alto High School multi-use field project. Action is scheduled for the February 9 regular meeting.




E. ACTION ITEMS/OPEN FORUM

D. Approval of Schematic Design for Group 1 Projects at Gunn High School:
The Board discussed information regarding these group 1 projects at the January 12, 2010, regular meeting. The recommendation is to approve the design of the Math/English and World Languages classroom buildings and new gymnasium.

E. Approval of Schematic Design for Group 1 Projects at Palo Alto High School:
The Board discussed information regarding these group 1 projects at the January 12, 2010, regular meeting. The recommendation is to approve the design of the new Math and History/Social Sciences building and the Media Arts Center projects at the next regular meeting.




F. DISCUSSION ITEM

F. Appropriation of Measure A Funds for Computers at All District Schools:
The Board will discuss appropriating $3,134,745 for the high schools, $2,198,102 for the middle schools, and $3,647,767 for the elementary schools for technology purchases over an eight year period; and appropriating $3,254,192 for use at the District level. Action is scheduled for the February 9 regular meeting.




G. DISCUSSION ITEM

G. Authorization to Issue a Contract in an Amount Not to Exceed $355,000 for a District Student Information System:
The Board will discuss entering into a contract with Infinite Campus for the implementation, licensing, maintenance, and support of a SIS for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years. Action is scheduled for the February 9 regular meeting.

H. Variable Term Waiver for ROP Automotive Mechanics Teacher:
The Board will discuss authorizing the filing of a Variable Term (English Learner) Waiver for Michael Camicia. Action is scheduled for the February 9 regular meeting.


Action Item:

I. Board Policies Review Committee (BPRC) - Changes to Charge Statement:
The Board will consider taking action to adopt the proposed changes to the BPRC Charge statement.

J. Authorization to Issue Addendum No. 5 to Deems Lewis McKinley Architecture:
The Board will discuss authorizing Addendum No. 5 with DLM Architecture in the amount of $332,350. Action is scheduled for the February 9 regular meeting.

K. Agreement Between the Palo Alto Unified School District and the City of Palo Alto Concerning the Public Use, Brokering, and Maintenance of District-Owned Athletic Fields, Tennis Courts, and Basketball Courts Jointly Used by School Students and the General Public:
The Board will discuss authorizing the joint agreement between the District and City. Action is scheduled for the February 9 regular meeting.
